Mummy Pizza Bread

Just in time for this spooky month of October, quickly now come eat this Mummy before it comes out of its tomb coming right for you. But don't worry, you will be safe against Vampires because of the garlic crust.

This braided bread is stuffed full of guts, cheese and dripping with blood I mean pizza sauce and toppings brushed with Vampires Kryptonite, garlic. So you will be safe when you go out Trick o' Treating this Halloween.
Halloween has to be my favorite holiday, once 11:59 hits on October 31st I already can't wait for the following year for Halloween and it doesn't hurt that my birthday isn't too far after Halloween.
This is a braided bread you may also know it as challah.  Its a traditional Jewish bread normally served around Passover. I've seen it filled with cinnamon sugar, roast garlic and parmesan but I chose pizza because I love pizza.

Mummy Pizza Bread

Time

Prep: 15 minutes
Proofing: 3 hours
Baking: 20 to 25 minutes

Ingredients

Mummy wraps (challah bread)
4 cups Unbleached All Purpose Flour plus 1/2 cup for dusting
1 Tablespoon (3 teaspoons) Dry Active Yeast
1 1/4 cup Warm Water
1 Tablespoon Sugar
3 Tablespoons Olive Oil, can use any oil
1 teaspoon Sea Salt
1 egg

Guts (Toppings)
1/2 cup Pizza Sauce
1 cup Mozzarella Cheese
1 package of Pepperoni or any toppings

Vampire Kryptonite (Garlic Egg Wash)
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon Granulated Garlic

Eye Balls
Mini Round White Cheddar Cheese
Black Olives

1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, sugar, olive oil, sea salt and egg. Slowly add flour at a cup at a time then last half cup. Don't worry if the dough is tacky.
2. Dust a clean surface with a little of flour. Turn over dough and knead for 10 minutes.
3.) Place dough in a floured bowl then cover with a tea towel or plastic wrap, I did both. Let the mummy wrappings (dough) until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.
4. Divide proofed dough into 3 equal pieces.  Roll dough out with a  rolling pin then top with blood (pizza sauce), guts (toppings) and cheese. Pinch both ends, roll out to about 6 inch stripes and set aside.  Continue with the other two stripes.
5. Once stripes are done, place all three stripes together and pinch the top of the dough stripes. Start braiding at the top with the right strip crossing the middle over then the left over the right.  Pinch the end.
6. Place dough onto cookie sheet.  Whisk together egg and Vampire Kryptonite (granulated garlic). Brush egg wash on and let bread proof for another hour at room temperature uncovered.
7. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.
8. Let cool for 5 minutes until serving.
